FAMOUS 1864 LINCOLN ENGRAVING OF BRADY PHOTO

One of the most desirable and sought after of all Abraham Lincoln images....John Chester Buttre engraving of a Matthew Brady photograph with fancy and special border engraving by W. Momberger representing Liberty, Union and Slavery, along with Lincoln's books, pen, inkwell, etc., sitting atop open shackles and a broken whip.  German born Momberger was a contemporary of other German born artists Thomas Nast, Adalbert Volck and Theodore Kauffman.  The engraving paper is 23" by 18 1/2" and the image is 16 by 12 inches to the raised edge.  Lightly taped into a matte years ago, the condition is Very Good, with only the lightest of foxing and and some very slight bowing.  There are no tears or visible staining.
 The text below the Brady image of Lincoln reads:
"BORDER DESIGN BY W. MOMBERGER"...."Entered according to act of Congress AD 1864 by J.C. Buttre, in the Clerk's Office in the District Court of the Southern District of New York.  Engraved and Published by J. C. Buttre, 48 Franklin Street, New York...PHOTOGRAPH BY M. B. BRADY"

This particular image was accomplished and issued in 1864 and others were altered after Lincoln died in April of 1865 and have the assignation mention.  Have found records of this image trading from $400 to $600 in east coast auctions. Please inquire for these references if interested.  This image is fully guaranteed to be 19th century and as stated.
